Making of an Aquarium

The very first step to making a good fresh water aquarium is getting the actual tank.

We have decided to do some research as to the type of fish wanted for the tank. The size of the fish for the required tank and where you are going to put the tank.

Now we are going to get the material for making this tank. The thickness of the glass to be used depends on the size of the tank (example 1/4 inch glass is used for a 30 gallon tank) We'll need silicone to glue the glass together and sand paper to smoothen the edges of the glass if necessary, also material for the cover.

The base of the tank is cut first, then the front and back which must be exactly alike. After cutting these then the sides are cut which must also be exactly alike.

After cutting these edges must be sand down , because as you know glass can be sharp so try to avoid cutting yourself.

We are now assembling this tank, so we'll glue the front, then the back on to the base after which we will glue the two sides, making sure all the creases are well glued together both inside and outside. A hood or canopie  will now be made with material suitable to withstand water.

On completion of the tank it must be filled with water,to test for any leakages that may occur. After a day or so and no leakages observed, you are now ready to go to the next stage which is the setting up of the aquarium.
