Maintaining Aquarium

Maintaining your aquarium is very important to the life of your fish and plants, and should be done approx.every two weeks. Observe your fish for any changes in their behavour; sluggish moving fishes or fishes congregating at the bottom of the tank indicates that the water density is too high.

Siphon off a quarter of the volume of water in the tank, and replace it with fresh water. It may be necessary to put a few drops of chlorine remover in the tank for delicate fish.

Clean your filter every two weeks, washing the sponge under tap until water runs clean.Charcol and amonia remover should also be washed and not changed. (change approx.every three months).

Gravel should be cleaned once a year, but never change gravel and filter at the same time, in order to maintain good bacterial efficiency.

If aquarium is kept outdoors, there will be a problem with algae. This can be removed by using an algae scraper or scrubing pad.(No traces of detergent or soap powder should be on the pad). If algae is severe, algae remover can be obtained from the dealer.
